Teaching Assistants Online Forums
- TA Chat forum Still the largest Teaching Assistant's forum this one is very good, active and busy, with lots of information and socialising.
- Teaching Support Forum (Link updated 13/2/08) A smaller community but active and lively. This one also has teacher members. The discussions about career development are particularly good. It's been slightly damaged by having to move to a new url but there is a core of really helpful community minded members so I'm sure it will soon be back on track. They have a dedicated NVQ STL tutor/asessor and HLTA champion on board that offer advice and support to those undertaking this career progression. Might be the best choice for TAs new to forums.
- HLTA and TA Staffroom - a large active forum with a clear focus on career and work based leaning. Also has a blog which is mostly used for posting links to resources.
If you've got time, join all of them and see where you feel most comfortable.
If you are new to forums read Andy's post 10 tips for Bloggers Using Forums. It's not just for bloggers, it's got some really good general advice about how to find and use forums.
